Could we be interested in Rodney Hood?

Should we be interested in Rodney Hood?

When his transfer went public I instantly thought about how he could fit in here. Well, my first thought was, "Man, Sid could spot'em." Anyway, what do you all think? For me, he is the perfect combo player, kind of in the mold of Evan Turner. As for schollys and roster spots, he would have to wait out a year, but would have 2 years of eligibility left. That's a 6'8" upperclassman match-up nightmare. The roster upon his return would be Lewis, maybe Purvis, Warren, Harris, TDT, maybe Amile, and maybe Graham. Hood does so many things that he doesn't really fit any one of those guys positions. And with a roster like that, everyone would probably receive equal minutes. I'm on my phone typing this, so I'll give a better analysis tomorrow, but wanted to get the thread started and see what you all think. Should the staff be interested?

Edit: smh at my lack of proof reading [the thread title at least]

Hood and Young could/Would be a DYNAMIC front court and probably could be top 5 in the country. So yes. Hood is Great player. also I'm sure with all the chemistry problem over at Mississippi State he would long to be part of a functional TEAM. and if anythign we've proven we are that over the past year.

I've been a huge Rodney Hood fan since I first started following him when I found out Sid was recruiting him. He is a versatile lefty, and even though he is 6'7", he is not a front-court player. He is a mismatch SG with skills to play the 2 or the 3. I look at him like a Scott Wood type who could play the two but would probably be slotted at the 3 in college. I followed his career this past year and the only thing I could think was, "damn Sid could spot'em". Even during his high school recruitment, I got the feeling like he would stay in Miss. or play for another SEC team. If we can bring him in... DO IT. My only question... if a player is a transfer, does he count against your scholarships in the year he would have to sit out?

Well in that case, I don't think out staff will pursue Rodney unless they miss on every other 2012 recruit we are going after. We don't have the room on the roster to spend a scholarship on a player that will have to sit out next season.

Wasn't Rodney only a freshman this season and he would have three years of eligibility left

Well, Raymond is transferring, so that will free up a scholarship.

As far as transfer rules go, I have no idea? Does it take up a scholarship? Would Hood have 3 years, or only 2 years of eligibility left? In any event, now that Raymond is transferring, my original question is answered: We should DEFINITLEY go after Hood!
    cheers,

If he uses his redshirt during the year he has to sit out he would have 3 years left. If he he doesn't redshirt then he has 2 years left.

Yeah after today's transpirings I have pulled a 180. We have the room, I say we should definitely go after him. I would love to add a tall lefty with a great 3pt stroke.
