Target 3* DE Dane Rogers from Shelby HS (NC) has committed to Clemson and is now off of our board.

Target 3* WR Johnathan Howard from GA has said that Clemson is "firmly in first place" for his services right now with us, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Kentucky trailing.

Every single report from any prospect that visits Clemson lately says that Clemson was an awesome experience and that Coach Swinney and his staff have just "blown them away." For every single report to come out and say that makes me wonder what all is going on down there when it comes to visits that are being taken over the summer.

Obviously, Clemson will run out of spots before they can take all of these what seem to be 50 recruits or so that have been "blown away" by their visits, but Clemson has skyrocketed to the top for seemingly every prospect that has visited them since the end of last football season. Weird thing to me is that this is also happening with recruits that are barely interested in Clemson at all but just swing by there on their way to tour other campuses in the southeast and then they have a revelation or something once they meet good ole' Dabo. (Just in the last three weeks this has included 5 4* players and 3 5* players from places outside of the southeast).

Another trend I just noticed - Out of their 11 commits so far, only 2 are on offense. Evidently Veneables must be promising them early playing time on defense to get them to commit (God know, their trouncing by WVU last year showed that their defense was clueless).

^ I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Clemson picked up Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's No. 1 overall college football prospect, and two of his HS teammates. I believe I read somewhere that their HS coach and Sweeney roomed together in college. ???

What's up with the state of Georgia? I mean, just about everywhere you look there is a huge recruiting battle going on over a top HS FB player... from the state of... Georgia.

Georgia has always had talent. The Warner Robins area outside of Atlanta always has stud athletes in football and baseball (Their LL team always seems to be in the final four in the LL World Series). This year the Georgia talent is actually a little ahead of the rest of the country and Dabo is taking advantage of its close proximity to Clemson.

In other news, 4* TE Josh McNeil from Durham Hillside HS (NC) has been named as a injury replacement for the Five Star Challenge (he is replacing an injured 5* TE) being held by Rivals.com this weekend in Atlanta.

He is the #10 overall TE in the country and the #10 overall player in the state of NC according to rivals.com. Would be a huge get if we could get him. I am not convinced that we would take two TE's in this year's class however, especially since we have a very good one already committed.

Last I heard, we didn't make his last cut.

^ You are correct. I completely lost that in my notes. Here is McNeil's Top 5: Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Miami.

Also, 4* RB David Williams swung through campus last weekend on his tour of a bunch of schools in the south. After he got back home, he "unofficially" narrowed his list of schools to his Top 10. It looks like we did not make the cut, even though we were one of three schools in the southeast that held him on a visit.

This however does not surprise me too much because Taquan Mizzell has publicly stated that our coaches have told him that he is our #1 choice on their running back board for the 2013 class. I would guess that if Williams saw that or found that out while he was in Raleigh, it probably immediately turned him off.

Target 3* WR Kyrin Priester from GA rescinds his commitment from Georgia and reopens up his recruiting. Only four schools have offered him: TCU, Vanderbilt, Georgia, and us. Priester is 6'2", 180. Rumored to be looking at South Carolina if he gets an offer from them next weekend while he is visiting.

According to reports, there was quite a bit of drama between him and the Georgia coaching staff after he was the first WR prospect to commit then they added at least three more WR prospects after him in the same recruiting class. Sounds like a little prima-donna to me, it would be a lot better for us if he committed to South Carolina, he would fit right in.

Target 3* OT Shawn Curtis from Olympia HS (FL) took a visit to see us early this week. He is 6'5", 270 and currently a 3* OT on scout.com.

We have also extended an offer to 2* CB Channing Stribling from Matthews Butler HS (NC) after his performance at our camp earlier this week. Stribling is 6'2", 171 with a 4.56 40 yd.

Target 3* RB Augustus Edwards from Tottenville HS (NY) has officially trimmed his list to his top four schools. We made the cut.
We are joined by Maryland, Syracuse, and Virginia in his top 4.

Well, I guess Edwards wanted to go to an ACC school, for some reason.

If Brunson qualifies I'm sure we'll take him, but at this point I gotta think we're done at LB.

    Some more details about Patterson:

6'1, 234, 4.8 40 yd. NR on rivals or scout yet. He was exclusively recruited by Jon Tenuta. Committed to Tenuta via phone call this morning. There was a strong rumor of him committing last night before I uploaded my last post, but I couldn't confirm the rumor in more than one place.

24/7 sports is the only place that has officially rated Patterson yet. He is a 2* on their service and the #47 player in NC.

There is not a lot of video out there about Patterson because he was overshadowed by Ledbetter and Bullard in most highlight tapes.

Here's a highlight reel from the NCHSAA 3AA Championship Game in which Shelby Crest and Patterson took on perennial powerhouse Northern Guilford:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykadw...hannel&list=UL (Patterson is #33).

Now that Syracuse is an ACC school, the ACC will be on television all the time in his neck of the woods. More TV coverage = more recruits from that area.

Also, a new QB prospect has appeared on our radar with an offer:

QB Milan Collins - Attends Bishop McNamara HS in MD. 6'2", 190, 3* on ESPN, 3* ATH on Rivals, 3* S on scout. Runs a recorded 4.5 40 yd.

Here's ESPN's review of him: "Collins shows some impressive traits, but is still green as well. Possesses nice height on a good, strong frame. Is extremely elusive in the pocket. Does not force the ball from the pocket, will tuck it and take off. Is more willing to throw the ball into tight windows on deep patterns."

Collins also has offers from West Virginia, Syracuse, Boston College and Rutgers other than us.

That'll teach ya to leave. Also, the final camp for High Schoolers is this Saturday and word is they are expecting a really big turnout. Hopefully some more good news over the weekend.

I read elsewhere that Tyler Brosius (sp?) might be transferring out. Do any of you connected folks know anything about this???

It's being discussed elsewhere, but nothing absolutely concrete has come out of it.

According to the PackPride message boards, CB Jack Tocho has committed.

Yup, that's what PP says. Says he looked real good at camp and they were surprised he didn't have more offers. Apparently runs at 4.45 / 40 on grass.

I thought TB was a local kid who jumped at his offer excited to play for the Pack. Why would he transfer? Am I thinking of someone else?

Glad we were able to get Tocho on board, he was supposed to have had a really good camp.

Nice to get another Charlotte kid. So much talent in that area. Tocho seems to have flown under the radar somehow. Excellent measurables and had 5 interceptions last season. At this rate we're going to be done with recruiting by August. Love it!

Just so long as the coaches don't rest on their laurels...once full we still have to worry about kids defecting.

Which is why I detest the February signing date. Sure would be nice to also have an early signing period (like hoops). Get a commitment from a kid in the spring/summer than have to fight off the wolves...err...tigers & gamecocks for 8 months. You just know Clemson and SC are going to come after Edmond et al.

Don't look for us to be completely done by August. We usually have a flurry of commitments during camp time. Camp time wraps up on the 23rd. I venture to guess that with Tocho's commitment, we are probably done unless we have a major surprise this weekend.

Of course, there have been many documented posts online about Saturday's came turn out. Coach Kitchings specifically mentioned it on twitter almost hinting that he expected something big on Saturday other than the crowd.

Hopefully with a good showing in Atlanta, we can open the eyes of some major talent during the beginning of the season.

Hearing rumblings from a couple of places that we may get a QB commit before too long, but things are a little up in the air. MagicHat, have not seen any names listed specifically, but a lot of these recruits are saying in interviews that they want to get by for a visit in June. Some of them actuaaly ended up camping with us and others didn't... I'd expect some of the kids we're looking at closely would show up to improve the chances of them getting a solid or committable offer. If by big names you mean some 4 star top 100 national guys probably not.

How up current does Scout.com keep their team rankings? They list us with 9 commitments, and have us ranked 60th overall and 2nd last in the ACC. Is that reflective of the guys TOB has commitments from?
