Been reading up a lot on this a lot lately and the rumored dates are Oct 5th-15th. We're really interested in this because most of us on staff here have the 4 and are excited to see what the new features are going to be.

Anyone else hearing any rumors on what's going to be new? Honestly, I doubt a bigger screen and a better camera is going to be enough to sell me on gettting the 5, but we'll see.

If the upgrade is anything like the minor changes from 3 to 4, I will wait until the urge catches up to may wallet before I switch out my 4 for the 5.

Honestly, if Radioshack hadn't swapped us out (even) from the 3 to the 4, we may not have switched at all. They ran a promotion before Christmas last year, and I traded my 32GB 3Gs for the 16GB i4, for nothing. No money. That was a good deal, IMO. My wife had a 16GB 3Gs, and it cost us about $20 to upgrade. If RS does this with the i5, I'm on it. If not, I'll wait. Because, from what I hear, there aren't that many new features to go gaga over.

I did see a web vid of someone claiming to know what the prototype was going to be like. It showed a holographic keyboard and a projection screen. I still don't know how they made the video, but they were typing on a projected, virtual keyboard! Now, that would be worth the effort for an upgrade!

Pretty much all that I've seen is that the Iphone 5 had video capabilities. Also heard about the bigger screen and better camera, but as far as new....haven't heard much more than video

^ No one has heard much. They keep those things pretty close to the vest. Except when a State grad leaves his prototype at the bar! Ooops.

Speaking of Apple, did you know that the new Chief Operations Officer (under new CEO, Tim Cook) for Apple, is a NC State Alum named Jeff Williams? He got his MBA from Duke, as did Tim Cook. Apple seems to know how to pick 'em.

i have been waiting on this to drop. i wanted the white iPhone 4 when they first showed it on the website, but as it turns out it would not be released for another year after its initial promotion. then, when it finally comes out, apple is about to release another one--the new, and oh-so improved, iPhone 5. what gives? i hope it's worth it, because my 3gs is starting to putter out. anyone have any good websites for specifics? a google search turned up nothing in the way of pictures or features.

SpinTK, there's noting out on the IPhone 5 yet. Apple runs a tight ship, but on Oct 4th they're supposed to make an announcement on it. Likely introducing it and giving us a date when we can buy it.

Check Gizmodo.com ...they're one of the best sites for stuff like this

I've always avoided Apple and their proprietary based products. I know that their computer systems have gotten better with this over the years, but I like to be able to buy parts cheaper from a 3rd party than more expensive via first party. I have an Android, but haven't used it the last several months due to financial reasons. The few months that I was able to use it though, it worked very well. Had to recharge the battery a lot, but everyone says that's the same with all smartphones. My service was with Cricket, and for $55 a month unlimited everything, I couldn't beat it. I had good service everywhere I went. I just can't wait til this money pit is behind me.

Well, once I get done with all this custody crap, I will be incurring no more $200/hour lawyer fees.

I just logged in to the new forums on my iPhone for the first time. It's a night and day difference, they are fully usable now!

$200 isn't that bad. hope s/he's a good family law attorney. most are charging flat fees these days anyway. that is, unless it's complex. hope it turns out well for ya!

Thanks. When you're in court for 8 hours, it adds up quick. Also, been needing him a LOT this week. And on Monday as well.

so, i've decided to go with the regular iphone 4. evidently they are going to be reduced to $200 for the 32gb on the day the 4S comes out. if i sale the one i have now, that means i'll only be $100 out of pocket. pretty slick deal if you ask me.
